Thanks Andy. I know – I went a little too far down the rabbit hole. I was really befuddled. To complicate matters, the amp went silent after inserting a Weber MiniMass into the signal chain, before my teardown and testing. So I was scared that I did irreparable damage to something.

But I’m happy to report that I got it all reassembled, after…[Read more]

I guess I’ll start by stating that my high voltage lines are higher than spec – considerably so. Before I get to the readings, let me list the “hardware” I’m using, as I did not purchase a kit but instead compiled the parts myself from Ted Weber and Antique Electronic Supply. The PT is the Weber W022772 listed in the book. As mentioned in the Ad…[Read more]

Oh snap, that would do it. I checked some voltages on mine to see and I’m getting 3.1 VAC on each lead for the filaments. So once you get all the connections right, you should be in that ballpark. Mine works, but in checking things to respond to this post a discovered a problem of my own. I’ll start a new thread for that if I cannot get it on my…[Read more]

One thing I noticed about the filament wires going into the lamp. In the photos you have from PRIOR to the attachment of the outgoing filament wires (from the lamp to the first output tube), it appears as though the end of the lead (circled in a modification of your photo) going to the “tip” of the lamp holder may be touching the “sleeve” solder…[Read more]
