Hmm.. Not sure why the links arent showing up in there… Key words are “Core”, “solution” and “Pics of the build”…

That is great! What was the change that made the amp louder?

I really love some of the builds from Tiny Zotolla: https://amzn.to/2OsZmdc

His AC30 Top Boost designs are pretty great sounding from Volume 2.

Sorry – I’ve been away too long and tiny things have changed – there’s links in my previous post and I can’t figure out how to highlight them as links :/ Probably just as well since some of them are wrong…

So – to answer your question – The “fix” was proposed by AX84 forum member Iain who designed the circuit LINK
The revised schematic is courtesy of AX84 forum member Stephen Keller: LINK

Page 2 shows the original schematic, Page 3 shows the revised schematic with the changes made.

    Andy,

Do you happen to have a detailed photo showing how you wired the solid state rectifier to tube rectifier switch?  I’m pretty sure you can wire the diodes to unused terminals on the tube rectifier socket along with the switch placement, etc. and any cautions about usage.  I’m thinking the only caution would be to either turn the volume down before switching, turn the amp off (which, while workable, seems like a PITA), don’t worry about it, or something else.  Since I’m already asking, you recommend wiring the speakers (I’m building the 8 and 10 inch speaker version with the single power tube) in parallel and running to the impedance switch to permit changing the impedance used on the OT depending upon the power tube used, correct?

Last suggestion:  Although the amp design allows for a bit of customization, would it be useful to list addenda to the addendum?  I realize all the info is out there but having it in a single spot would be cool.

Last question:  My login reflects my email at my former employer (I retired about 2 years ago).  Is there any way I could update my login information?  If you reply using my original email address (from John Deere), I’ll never get it…now that I am officially a “geezer”…
